Humane education in Miami-Dade
County Schools curricula. This
program should be in conjunction with the Board of Education to further ensure its completion. Also, Miami Pets
Alive will help promote and expand the “Pet Professor” program sponsored by
HSGM and DCVF (Dade County Veterinary Foundation) and the “HOPE” Program
sponsored each year by Martin Karp.
Encourage celebrities
and the media to help us educate the general public
about the importance of spaying and neutering their animals, the severity of
the problem, as well as responsible pet guardianship, such as the programs
currently sponsored by pets911.
Local governments should become more involved in
promoting this education by supporting and endorsing local projects and
grassroots groups.
Stricter public ordinances with more severe penalties for
animal abandonment, cruelty and neglect while
increasing and promoting sterilization, proper vaccination and licensing.
Community involvement. We shall
seek the participation of established groups, such as youth groups, churches,
senior citizen clubs, boys and girls scouts, etc. to promote animal welfare
and educate their peers about the situation of animals in our County and the
means to improve their well-being.
