Lynn MacAuley, President
Lynn holds a Masters Degree in Education and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Maryland. She taught secondary school social studies for 17 years in Maryland before changing careers and becoming a librarian. She was the librarian at Jackson Memorial Hospital Nursing School for 14 years.
Lynn has been involved locally as an animal advocate for about ten years beginning in 1992 when she helped start the Kitty Committee at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was appointed to the Advisory Board for Animal Control Services in 1994 and was one of the founders and past Presidents of The Cat Network. This not-for-profit group has grown in the seven years since its inception to having a membership of 3,200. In 1997 she was appointed by the County Manager to serve on the Animal Care & Control Task Force which met from August 1997 to December 1998. She is presently on the Board of Directors of The Cat Network.
From 1996 to the present she attended a number of national, state and local animal-related conferences which advocate the "No Kill Philosophy". She became motivated and determined to bring this movement to the Miami community. In February, 2001, she drafted a proposal which has become the basis of Miami Pets Alive. Her goal is to awaken the community to the problems animals face here and to mobilize all forces to work together for a common solution.
